A History in the Community
New Covenant Presbyterian Church began in 1978 as a small Bible study. The first pastor, the Reverend Larry Wanaselja, served faithfully for 20 years. After ten years of steady growth, and worshipping in three different temporary locations, we were able to purchase land and build a new church facility on our current five acres in the 924 corridor.
We have been located at 128 St. Mary’s Church Road in Abingdon, Maryland since February of 1989. In 2002, we enlarged our facilities to include a gymnasium, an educational wing, and an extended area for parking. Here we gather to worship, fellowship, educate our adults and children, and provide many other services important to families and a growing community.
